THE MEMOIR CLUB
The Memoir Club, launching at this year’s Bloomsbury Festival, is a hot-off-the press immersive promenade play by Anjali Bhat, based on deeply personal memoirs read by Virginia Woolf, Lytton Strachey and John Maynard Keynes to their friends, in a secret “Memoir Club”. The Club and its radically open discussions have largely been lost to history. We unbury it in the only way possible: by recreating it in all its audacity. The memoirs are interspersed with improvised discussions which guests are welcomed to participate in: each night yields a unique performance, eventually morphing into an immersive soirée with a 1920s swing band.
The Bloomsbury Club, the lyrically beautiful Bloomsbury Set-themed bar at the Bloomsbury Hotel, hosts with their elegant cocktails as guests are led through their alternately velveted and twinkling, ivy-covered passageways.
Accessibility: The event will involve some walking up and down stairs. Alternative routes and assistance are available for guests with accessibility requirements. Please specify these when booking by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
